What iconography do you expect to see in the genre thriller?

On Wed, we completed the remaining of our filming for the trailer. The scenes that we had left which were the college scenes, the starting of the trailer. Sam acted in one of the scenes, being a teacher, so as the director, I gave Sam a scipt. For the cast I bought one person, and Hina also bought one person and Sohail bought about 6 or 7 people.

Strenghts: The timing for the filming went well because we got everything done on time and all the essential things were successful filmed. The first class room scene, went well because the cast was a appropriate number required for the trailer, all members, excluded Sohail, were part of the cast. Sohail was the camera man and therefore he filmed it.

The first scene of Sam talking was done a few times, as when editing the best shot can be
chosen. Also if Sam made a mistake whilst speaking, Sohail carried on filming as it can be edited later. This made the cast as well as Sam more comfortable, during shooting.
Weaknesses: One of the weakness of our group is organisation. We are not as organised as we should be, which causes problems like confusion. For example, the ending of the trailer caused problems, as each of the memeber had a ending to the trailer, so we did not know which to pick. To solve this we asked Sarah for assistance and she said which should use a mixture of all of them. But as being poor at organisatin, the members still do not have a clear ending.
To solve this, we have meetings every Wed, where we solve any problems that accour.

Overall, the filming was done the way we wanted it to be and we have mangaged to include what we wanted.

I gave the completed script to Sam, for the teachers role. I then went to see him and ask him about it, he said that it consists of less information and therefore needs more information in it. I then added a few new things to it, but thought that it may be better if Sam was to improvise as he knows and understands the story, it would look more real and natural. I also needed more in the script because when filming we need to film exra shots, so when editing we have a variety of choice available to pick from.

Today after college, we have a group meeting at 4 till 5. In this meeting, we will complete the remaining of our filming.

I gave my completed script to Sam. We had a meeting on Wed 18th Nov 09, where we discussed the shots and our next filming date and time. This meeting was very helpful and useful because we got a chance to talk through things abot our trailer and the things that we need to do and complete.

We still have some of the scens to film for the trailer. One of the scenes requires a teacher, so yesterday me and Hina went to Sam to ask him and he said yes he will do it, but at the moment we have not decided on the day to film. As a director/producer, It is my job to create a script for
Sam, the teacher in the trailer.
The starting is:
"Come on in! Have a seat, and welcome to film club!"

The ending is:
"The deadline is on 15th Nov."

I have completed the script, and I need to show it to Sam.

Raza and Uzma practicing their scenes. The scene where the dead girl is dragged.

This is Sohail filming, he is the camera man.

This is the location, the park.

This two are the main characters in the trailer, Raza and Uzma are performing a scene where the two are flirting.

These are the pictures of the filming of the trailer.
The filming went well because everyone managed to turn up and we had no trouble filming because, despite not some of the cast not being able to turn up, we decided to act in it and this was done successfully. Asthe director/producer, I decided to bring another cameara as a prop to use in the trailer, therefore we had ecverything that was reqired for the trailer. I aso brought the scipt for the trailer.
The things that did not go well were that we did not manage to do everything, that we wanted the trailer to consists off. The thing that I realized was that actually filming something is harder then just saying it. So we were unable to to film some scenes, but despite being really cold and rainy, we managed to do the main aspects of the trailer. Each scene we filmed more than once, so we can have choose the best one, when editing. We also changed some of the things in the trailer, as it was difficult to act some scenes in the rain, like the dead girl lying on the floor scene, we changed it to the girl being dragged instead of lying on the floor.
Overall, the whole experience was interesting and we managed to capture the important parts for the trailer. Whilst watching the trailer, I realized that all the important aspects of the trailer are present.

On Sat, we went to Cannon Hill park and we filmed some of the scenes for the trailer. The filming was successful, it involved taking pictures and making film of the nature in the park.

We have decided on a teacher for the cast for our trailer. The teacher that is going to act for the trailer is Sam. On Wed, we are going have a meeting with our cast as well as Sam and therefore, we will present Sam's scipt to him, which as a director I have wrote, as well as a script for the other cast. The meeting will take place 4-5, after college.

Today I made changes to my script and added more diologue and also removed the captions from the script as the script does not require captions, only diologue is required. However, I need to decide on what the voice-over will say at the start of the trailer.

Thursday, 5 November 2009

Things to do for the trailer:

1. Characters names
2. Exactly what the voice-over says (watch other trailers for inspirational)
3. Watch After-School trailer and count the number of shots.
(so we know how much to shoot.)
4. One final step outline and paste into tellow book.
5. Retype script + the step-line
6. After school has 58 individual shots, including the captions.
Our trailer needs more shots.
7. Story- board scanned.
8. Suggestions for other shots:

1.Nature (park)
2.Students talking about him being the killer
3.the vidoe camera
4.Main character fights with another character ( you killed her)
5.8 captions/graphics
6.Looking at the girls photo= newspaper article
7. Running away from someone
8. Dispairing/angry
9. His own investigation= (I'm going to prove it, was not me)
10. Confession to a friend= ( Maybe I did it?)
Confusion created for the audiences, character portrayed as confused.
By the end of trailer, the audience need to be questioning if he might have done it.
Come up with as many other shots as possible.

Timings for the trailer

I have been looking at the trailer for Afterschool and realised we need to come up with a lot more shots so I need to feed this back to my group. i have a few ideas myself but i think we need another meeting.
